RENNSPORT’s Kings of the Ring adds the Porsche 919 Evo and a standalone Nordschleife

Game version 1.2.15 deploys today with three cars and the Nordschleife on its own, free to Deluxe Edition owners and $14.99 otherwise, alongside an AI and force feedback pass.

RENNSPORT published patch notes for game version 1.2.15 on September 23, with the Kings of the Ring DLC deploying the following day. Servers were due offline at 10:00 CEST on September 24 for what the developer describes as approximately three hours of scheduled maintenance. [1]

What the DLC contains

Three cars and one track layout: the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo, the BMW M1 Procar, the KTM X-BOW GT2, and the Nürburgring Nordschleife as a standalone layout without the Grand Prix loop. [1]

The pack is free to Deluxe Edition owners. Bought on its own it is listed on Steam at $14.99 in the United States, with a release date of September 24, 2026. [2] The patch notes say standalone purchasers get “the full pack, including this pure Nordschleife alongside full access to all pre-existing Nürburgring layouts”, the 24-hour endurance configuration among them. [1]

The 919 Evo gets a manual DRS

The Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo is given a driver-operated Drag Reduction System. RENNSPORT says engaging it “trims the car’s aerodynamic surfaces, dumping downforce and shedding drag to unlock a substantial increase in straight-line top speed”, and that doing so “significantly reduces high-speed braking stability and grip”. The system is not automatic: it has to be bound to a button on a wheel or controller in the settings menu before going out on track. [1]

On the other two cars, the developer describes the M1 Procar as running Paul Rosche’s naturally aspirated 3.5-litre M88/1 inline-six with no traction control or ABS, and the X-BOW GT2 as a carbon-fibre monocoque with Audi’s 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder, lighter than typical GT3 machinery. [1]

The free half of the update

RENNSPORT frames the rest of 1.2.15 as a response to a player survey earlier in the summer, saying it was “not enough to keep adding new features and content on top of shaky grounds”. [1]

On the AI, the developer states its target as “smart racing and zero stupidity” and says this release is about “establishing a more reliable baseline” rather than a finished product. The changelog lists increased spatial awareness between AI cars and the player, refined driveline tracking, throttle logic that runs full throttle on clear straights while staying disciplined in braking zones, and rebalanced performance scaling across difficulty settings and car classes. [1]

On hardware, the notes list recalibrated wheelbase torque output curves on consoles with targeted tuning for PlayStation 5, an increase in force feedback strength, a fix for third-party wheelbases and pedals not being detected on startup, and the removal of an input delay when shifting with an external H-pattern shifter. [1]

Penalties and session rules

Track limit penalties now calculate and penalise every position gained off-track, where the system previously penalised only one. Off-track slowdown penalties in qualifying are served immediately rather than held until the end of the session. Drivers with safety and skill ratings above 5000 are no longer locked out of player-hosted Custom Contests, and an exploit that let players switch to an external camera in sessions where the host mandated cockpit view has been closed. [1]

Visually, the update adds a motion blur toggle on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, adjusts ambient lighting and skybox values across day and night, lifts shadow contrast, and reduces headlight glare from cars behind at night. Incorrect lighting modes on the BMW M3 E30, Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 EVO II, Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI and HWA EVO.R have been corrected for night competition. RENNSPORT says windscreen and external mirror reflections “still require work in upcoming passes”. [1]
