A road-car replica with a very different cockpit presence

SIMAGIC’s officially licensed Aston Martin Valkyrie wheel is listed at US$799 before tax and shipping. The 320 mm replica combines an integrated display with a distinctive control layout, making it a different proposition from a conventional round rim or a compact formula wheel. The purchase case starts with whether you want this particular cockpit experience, rather than the button count alone. Official source.

The construction pairs a carbon-fibre front with a magnesium-alloy rear shell and Alcantara grips. SIMAGIC lists a weight of 1.72 kg without the quick release. The screen is a five-inch colour touchscreen with a 480 × 800 resolution. These are manufacturer specifications, not measurements from a review sample. Official source.

Controls and specifications at a glance

The official specification lists eight RGB buttons, two five-way switches, two self-centring stalks, a start/stop control and a Hall-sensor paddle module. Connectivity is listed as CAN FD, USB and Wi-Fi, with an AM QR50 quick release. A list of interfaces does not establish universal wheelbase or console compatibility. Official source.

Look at the back as well as the front

The rear layout is worth studying before choosing a replica wheel. Your hands need to reach the paddles and secondary controls comfortably from the position you actually drive in. If you wear gloves, consider how that changes your reach and grip rather than assuming a wheel that looks right will automatically suit long sessions.

The same applies to dashboard placement. An integrated screen can be useful, but its value depends on where the wheel sits relative to your eyes, the main display and any existing dashboard. Measure your usual wheel position and think about whether the information will be visible without moving your focus too far from the road. Those are practical fit questions, not conclusions we can settle from product renders.

Software support is part of the purchase

SIMAGIC’s SimPro 3.2.3 release notes add Valkyrie support and list AM firmware 1.1.7. The update also introduces DashLab for dashboard creation. Check the current download centre and supported firmware combination when installing, rather than relying on an older copy of the application. Official source.

Before ordering, confirm the exact connection route for your base and platform with the manufacturer or retailer. Include the quick release, any required connection accessories and software requirements in that conversation. Wireless capability alone does not mean every function works wirelessly on every rig, and a USB connection alone is not proof of console support.

Who is this wheel likely to appeal to?

Our view is that this is primarily a choice for drivers who value the Valkyrie’s shape, materials and integrated display. Someone moving between several kinds of racing should also consider how the shape suits their steering inputs and control habits. A replica can add character to a rig, but it still needs to be comfortable and practical for the cars you drive most.

We have not tested the display responsiveness, paddle feel or long-session ergonomics, so those remain review questions. Compare the installed cost and confirmed compatibility before making a decision. For related hardware, see the EVO Pro 21 Nm software upgrade and current SIMAGIC offers and exclusions.
