Fanatec’s ClubSport F1 system pairs a new wheel with the existing DD+ base

Fanatec announced the ClubSport F1 Racing System on September 16, an officially licensed Formula 1 direct drive package for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. It makes its public debut at Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs at Makuhari Messe from September 17 to 21. No price and no release date have been given. [1] [2]

The base is carried over, the wheel is the new part

The system succeeds the ClubSport Racing Wheel F1 and retains the ClubSport DD+ wheel base, which Fanatec lists at up to 18 Nm of holding torque with its FullForce telemetry effects. That figure describes hardware already on sale rather than a new motor, so anyone reading the headline number should note it is the current DD+ specification. [1]

What is new is the ClubSport F1 V3 steering wheel, which Fanatec describes as exclusive to this system. It is based on the ClubSport Formula V3 with a Formula 1 colour scheme and a forged carbon finish, and Fanatec says it is wider than its predecessor for a more natural driving position. [1]

Controls and paddles

The wheel carries a 2.7-inch white OLED display and 15 RGB LEDs, plus two seven-way FunkySwitches, rotary dials and 12-way switches. Fanatec says these have been refined for tactility and precision without describing the change in more detail. [1]

The system ships with an exclusive version of the Podium Advanced Paddle Module preinstalled. The upper and middle paddles use the same forged carbon fibre finish as the wheel, with anodised black aluminium on the lower analogue paddles. Fanatec says the base is compatible with its full range of pedals, shifters and accessories, so existing owners are being offered a wheel and paddle upgrade rather than a new ecosystem. [1]

Release depends on Sony’s approval

Fanatec says the system is undergoing final review by Sony Interactive Entertainment, that the announcement itself was approved by SIE, and that production is planned to begin after final approval. Pricing and availability will follow closer to launch. Fanatec’s own footnote states that PC compatibility is “not tested nor endorsed by Sony Interactive Entertainment,” which is standard wording on licensed console hardware rather than a caution about PC use.
