Assetto Corsa EVO 0.9 puts competition and strategy first
Special Events, mandatory pit stops and three cars headline the latest Early Access release.

Assetto Corsa EVO 0.9 adds two different forms of competition: leaderboard challenges that can be attempted at any time and multiplayer races with mandatory pit stops. Released August 26, it also expands the car roster and revises racing slicks. [1]

Special Events compare drivers under fixed conditions
Hotlap and Hotstint events combine a specified car and track with fixed conditions and time of day. Results persist on worldwide leaderboards. Hotlap concentrates on a single lap; Hotstint measures a longer run. Both are accessed from the main menu. [1]
This format lets players chase the same target without joining the same live session. It suits a different use of practice time from entering a scheduled race: repeat a combination, compare the result and return to it later.

Pit stops add decisions to multiplayer races
Mandatory stops can now be included in online races. Drivers select tyre compound, pressures and fuel through the MFD. The added cars are the Audi R8 LMS GT2, Audi R8 V10 performance quattro and Mazda RX-7 FD Spirit R Type A. KUNOS also reports an updated racing-slick model, force-feedback and input fixes, plus rendering work. [1]

What returning players may have missed in 0.8
The July 8 update added Kyalami, the KTM X-Bow GT2 and GT4, and Volkswagen Golf 8 R. It also extended community-created cars into multiplayer, with server-side verification and entry-list controls for organisers. External livery creation joined that community-content workflow. [2]
VR received its own substantial update in 0.8: foveated rendering, including eye-tracked support on compatible hardware, separate VR video settings, world-scale controls and pixel-density adjustment. These were July changes, rather than new 0.9 additions. They help explain the wider state of the game for someone returning after several releases. [2]
EVO remains in Early Access
Version 0.9 is available on PC through Steam as part of the ongoing Early Access programme. [1] The release brings more structure to competitive sessions while the preceding update expanded content creation and VR configuration. Together they give returning players several areas to explore beyond simply selecting one of the newly added cars.
