I like the flexibility of a Stream Deck, but there is still something satisfying about a proper rotary knob or an ignition switch. The GTR combines those ideas in one enclosure, placing a separately purchased Stream Deck beside physical sim-racing controls. It made sense as a way to keep both within reach without finding room for two separate boxes.
My verdict at a glance
What worked: Solid controls, a snug Stream Deck fit and a compact arrangement that brought both types of input together.
What to consider: The separate Stream Deck cost, the correct generation for the enclosure and the mounting hardware your rig needs.
My main criticism: The 3D-printed enclosure and sparkly cover finish felt less polished than the carbon front and controls.

What the GTR includes
The GTR is a button box and a housing for a compatible Elgato Stream Deck. The Stream Deck itself is not included.
The physical inputs handle familiar tasks such as brake-bias adjustment, ignition and other car functions, while the Stream Deck provides changeable icons and shortcuts.
That combination was the attraction for me. I could keep frequently used controls on dedicated switches and use the Stream Deck for functions that benefited from its flexible layout.
When ordering, specify the Stream Deck generation you intend to fit. Do not assume that any device carrying the Stream Deck name will fit the same enclosure.
Carbon front, printed enclosure
The front used a genuine 2 mm twill-weave carbon-fibre plate with a matte finish. I liked how it looked and felt.
The rear enclosure was 3D printed in matte black. It was probably my least favourite part of the construction, although it was also the part I saw and touched least during use.
The complete box felt well put together. Its roughly nine-inch height and seven-inch width gave it room for useful controls without becoming enormous beside the rig.
The Stream Deck cover had a sparkly textured finish that I did not particularly like. A plain matte treatment would have suited my taste better.
I chose a red accent to match my branding. The original order offered black and blue alternatives as well; check current customisation choices before buying.
Fitting the Stream Deck
I removed the front cover, inserted the Stream Deck and routed its USB cable through the rear of the housing.
The fit was snug. I did not notice the device shifting or moving while using it.
The result looked integrated, but the GTR and Stream Deck still had their own connections and functions. The housing did not replace the Stream Deck’s software.
The original button-box cable was offered as a small extra at checkout. I would have preferred it included, although someone with a suitable spare might appreciate the option.
Check the current package contents and allow for the cables needed by both devices.
The physical controls felt good
The large brake-bias knob at the top was a highlight. Its metal construction and firm encoder detents made it satisfying to turn.
Two additional rotary encoders also had push functions. Beneath them were four illuminated push buttons with static white lighting on my review unit.
The momentary toggle switches, illuminated engine-start button and covered latching toggle added the kind of tactile interaction that a screen-based button cannot quite reproduce.
The buttons felt solid and the encoders had a useful amount of resistance. Nothing I regularly touched felt especially cheap.
There were not endless physical controls, but the combination with the Stream Deck was adequate for my needs.
Racebox included label choices for the physical controls and a download link for Stream Deck icons. Those helped give the combined setup a consistent appearance.
Mounting and Windows setup
The back of the enclosure had four M5 mounting points in a VESA 75 pattern. That made it possible to use an appropriate VESA or button-box mount.
The pattern alone does not supply the mount. Check the bracket and fastening hardware for your rig before installation.
Windows recognised the GTR as a game controller, and I mapped its inputs in the sim. I did not need a separate driver or special configuration application for the physical button box.
The Stream Deck was configured separately through its own software. Combining the hardware in one enclosure did not change that distinction.
The controls worked without issues in the games I used for the review. That experience does not establish compatibility with every title or console.
Is the combined approach worthwhile?
The original review quoted US$179 for the GTR, before shipping, taxes and other charges, with a USB cable offered separately for US$5. Those figures describe the review period.
The complete cost also includes a compatible Stream Deck if you do not already own one. That is essential context when comparing it with an ordinary button box.
For someone who already uses a Stream Deck and wants physical knobs and switches beside it, the GTR was a practical solution.
I liked the tactile feel and the compact arrangement. The enclosure and cover finish were compromises I could accept at the original price.
A DIY approach might cost less for someone with the tools and experience. The GTR’s appeal was getting the combined housing and controls ready to configure, without taking on that project.
